His Government & Kingdom Are Within--Part I ©by Kathy Black
|
From time to time it is a good thing to re-examine the foundation of
our faith, which both starts and
finishes at two points, the cross and the resurrection of Jesus
Christ. At His
cross, Christ was establishing a new government that ushered in a
different kingdom than the world had ever known.
God planned that Jesus would come in a meek and lowly manner.
He could have come as King and made a lot of earthly changes
that would set up the model government, or the model church.
But he did not come to build a building or set up an outward
governmental structure. What
He came to do was extremely revolutionary.
Jesus was called the “Second Adam” or in some versions of
the bible, the Second Man. And
we will need to examine this little used name of Christ in order to
fully understand what kind of Revolution Jesus was birthing.
“It is not the spiritual that
comes first, but the physical, and then the spiritual. The first
Adam, made of earth, came from the earth; the second Adam
came from heaven.” Good News today English Version. 1 Corinthians
15:46
One of the definitions of
revolutionary is world shattering.
Jesus was a revolutionary in the truest sense of the word. It describes what He did on the cross perfectly! It
wasn’t just a revolution of government; it was world shattering,
world restoring, and world remaking.
It was to happen one individual at a time.
God’s
government was NOW written within man and the POWER of the Holy
Spirit was given to accomplish the demolition and remodeling
process. Every believer
is equal with each other and ALL start at the same place as sinners
saved through the grace and power of God.
There is no hierarchy in the kingdom of God because the
organizational chart of Christ’s kingdom is ONE king and many
subjects. We are ALL
equal in Christ’s sight. He
gave His life for each and every precious one of us.
He imparts different gifts, talents and offices to each of us
but they are not given to exalt mankind and if used properly exalt
the Lord alone. The
corporate mind of Christ comes out of people who have given the
dominion of their lives to Him and simply want His will to be
expressed, His way.
Let’s examine why
understanding Christ, as the second Adam, is so important to
all government and dominion. The
term dominion is about rule and authority.
Christ already accomplishing everything at one time period in
history, the cross and the resurrection.
He was, and is, to be the absolute
Ruler and Authority in every born again spirit filled believer. We
must never be guilty of allowing people in ruling positions to take
the position that belongs to Christ alone. He is to rule
and be in authority over His disciples.
All serve Christ and one another as brothers and sisters
adopted into a NEW family. In
understanding the concept of Christ as the "second Adam"
or as translations define this term "the second man" concept,
we may have an understanding of the metamorphosis that the people of
God, the true Disciples of Christ, are going through in this season.
They are being totally transformed into Christ and
everything else is being shaken off.
We think of governments as those instituted by kings, parliaments,
and republics. Each of these government systems are made
up of a collection of individuals and families that hold different
mind sets yet agree to be ruled in a certain way.
Our very constitution states that NO government can long
survive without the consent of those governed.
And it is true of every believer.
God has chosen His government of
love to be by the consent of the governed, freely given in adoration
and thanksgiving to Christ alone for what He accomplished.
Mature Christians serve Christ out of thanksgiving,
appreciation and love alone. One
who truly loves and is centered on Christ only wants His rule
through His people. Christ
was to be a New Seed, the Second Adam.
Human beings would be recreated, born of faith; every
believer would NOW be molded and shaped into the image of God’s
own son, Jesus Christ. “Now
to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say,
“And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And
to your Seed,” who is Christ. Galatians 3:14
Remember, Satan’s rebellion was
started in a perfect place, heaven.
Also, Adam and Eve’s covenant with the flesh and the devil
was birthed in a perfect place, the garden.
All created beings had ready access to God on a daily basis
and they could contact him and get their questions answered every
day. No sin separated
them from God.
Humanity
not only lived in perfection, the world around them was
perfect. The entire war
for dominion of the earth centered on the exaltation of man’s
self, which desired to rule instead of God.
Satan, Lucifer, started original sin when he rebelled against
God.
“How you are fallen from
heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the
nations! For you have said in your heart:
· ‘I
will ascend into heaven, · I
will exalt my throne
above the stars of God; · I
will also sit on the
mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; · I
will ascend above the
heights of the clouds, · I
will be like the most
High.” Isaiah 14;12.
As
a fallen, powerful enemy of the will and purposes of God, Lucifer,
or Satan, is called the Prince of the Power of the Air. In the book
of Ephesians. this term is meant to help people understand that the
entire course of this world's mindset is to chain people on earth
to his kingdom and keep them from responding to the Holy Spirit by
controlling them through the lusts and desires of the flesh. 1A
And you He made alive, who were dead in
trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the
course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the
air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among
whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh,
fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by
nature children of wrath, just as the others.
Most of the spiritual warfare here
on earth is against our own human nature and it's choices and
decisions. The only way human beings could be transformed
would be by placing a New Seed within.
The Seed of Christ who being, fully God, and fully man,
perfectly did the will of God and overcame the rebellion of
self-rule.
That is the wonder of the new
birth everyone talks about. As
we study God’s word the seed inside us, Christ Himself, grows so
we begin to know good and evil.
As the power of the Holy Spirit grows, we begin to put to
death the desires of the flesh and emotions that bring death and not
life within. We
become a whole new creation and our lives are now ordered by what He
believes is right and wrong; and not what we think or what the world
structures and systems tell us. God knew that only by
coming and ruling from within us could His true kingdom be
established on earth.
