THE HEBREW AND GREEK MEANING OF THE NEW MOON

"Hodesh" (New Moon), is derived from the root H.D.SH. meaning "new" or "to make new/ renew". The Crescent New Moon is called Hodesh because it is the first time the moon is seen anew after being concealed for several days at the end of the lunar cycle. .. Because the moon is seen anew after a period of invisibility the ancients called it a "New Moon" or "Hodesh" (from Hadash meaning "new")." http://www.karaite-korner.org/new_moon.shtml

I want to clarify four points of why we are praying and dedicating our homes at the time of the New Moon in Jerusalem:

  1. The purposes of meeting at this time is to sanctify the new month and dedicate our homes to the Lord.

  2. The time to dedicate your home is at the time of the New Moon in Jerusalem.  This changes each month and there is a data page to help you each month.  We sometimes change this a bit to coincide with the sighting of the new moon in our region.

  3. When you sight the New Crescent Moon, in your region,  take a few minutes to pray for the Muslims in your family, town, city, state or nation to personally accept Jesus as their Savior and Lord.  As we pray for the Muslims at this time period it is an act of war in prayer.  We are declaring Our God, Jesus, the Messiah, rules and reigns over the heavens He created and we are asking God to free this people group from the mind control they have been trapped in.

  4. We are Watching for our Lord to return.

Take Time to inquire of the Lord for the new month.  Sit at His feet for a few hours worshipping Him and remember the new day starts at sundown in the Jewish calendar.  As we sit before the Lord, at the time He instituted when He bought the Israelites out of slavery and into the promised land, we too can ask Him to align our times and seasons with His.
