Some Keys to help you on the journey toward eternal life. |
|
Key verses from the bible are below with the book of the bible they are found in bolded.
Repentance begins at the moment you believe you need Jesus and turn away from leaving Him out of your life. It is not all about believing that you needed him to Rescue you from death and sin. It is about believing and being willing to turn 180 decrees away from the sin of living your own way and not His.
Luke 13:3. But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did!
The bible is full of stories in the Old Testament of how people tried to follow God but couldn't do it without the very presence of God in their midst. That is why you have to "invite" Jesus into the midst of your self . The word King is often thought of in our modern world in the context of a dictator but Jesus is your friend and loved you enough to die for you. As "King" of your life, he wants you to be happy, free, and full of joy and peace whatever circumstances you find yourself facing.
Romans 10: 9 If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved. For it is by our faith that we are put right with God; it is by our confession that we are saved. The scripture says, "Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed."
Ask Him to forgive you for leaving Him out of your life and thinking you could make it on your own in this life. He died to save us from our self centered actions, behaviors, and attitudes that are locked within our emotions, mind, and body. This is the "self" or in biblical terms "the flesh".
John 3: 16-18. For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it. There is no eternal doom awaiting those who trust him to save them. But those who don’t trust him have already been tried and condemned for not believing in the only Son of God. (If you really believe that Jesus is the Son of God, then you understand that He helped create you, knows what will make you the happiest, and what is the best for you).
If while praying, He brings up some things in your past that He would like to to confess as sin; do so. Think about the cost that Jesus paid to save you from your sins. He gave up His whole life and suffered terribly on the cross. There was a spiritual and physical exchange at the cross. Your sins transferred onto Jesus who died in your place and paid the penalty for your sin: death. An exchange happens when you receive what He did for you in faith. You are bought back into friendship with Him and God, His Father. You are adopted into God's family.
1 John 1:9 But if we confess our sins to God, he will keep his promise and do what is right: he will forgive us our sins and purify us from all our wrongdoing.
In the bible, John 3:15 tells you about being born again into His kingdom. It is not a kingdom of flesh and blood...but of the Spirit. Now, you will live your life connected to the Holy Spirit and He will transform you into the image of Christ. This is a lifetime process, but begins when you have asked Him to forgive you, and invite Him into the center of your self; your heart, mind, and your soul.
Romans 12:2. Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God—what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.
Genesis 2:8-15.Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, to the east, and placed in the garden the man he had formed. The Lord God planted all sorts of beautiful trees there in the garden, trees producing the choicest of fruit. At the center of the garden he placed the Tree of Life, and also the Tree of Conscience, giving knowledge of Good and Bad...The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden as its gardener, to tend and care for it. But the Lord God gave the man this warning: "You may eat any fruit in the garden except fruit from the Tree of Conscience—for its fruit will open your eyes to make you aware of right and wrong, good and bad. If you eat its fruit, you will be doomed to die."
Here in Genesis God's true will was made known. He created Adam and Eve and was going to "bring them up as their Parent". Eventually they would have know good and evil from their long relationship and association with Him. But they choose to do it the "their own quick way" which resulted in disobeying God and having to have God go to Plan B, the death of Jesus, which is God in the flesh, to pay for everyone's sins and restore His people from the inside out.
And remember, God created everything good and perfect before sin entered into Adam and Eve. Sin entered through their own will not believing God and wanting to know good and evil without asking God. So the root sin here is dependence on self rather than God. A sin we ALL commit.
Galatians 5:22. When the gentle, Holy Spirit of Jesus, is invited into our lives, He will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Ask Him to give you his Holy Spirit that will empower you to live a totally different kind of life. Baptism has always been a "picture" of dying to self and being resurrected into a new life. It is also a picture of the water of God's word, the bible. By totally immersing your mind by reading and studying the bible, it helps to create a whole new creature in Christ's kingdom--an eternal YOU.
Mark 1:8. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
Your old life is gone...everything is made new again. As far as eternity is concerned...you are a whole new creation. Old things are passed away. As far as the east is from the west, so far are your sins removed. You are right with God. Jesus as your Savior and King is now residing within you in the power of His Holy Spirit. T
2 Corinthians 5:17. So whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come. And all this is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and given us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting their trespasses against them and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
Hebrews 4: 12. The word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. It cuts all the way through, to where soul and spirit meet, to where joints and marrow come together. It judges the desires and thoughts of the heart. There is nothing that can be hidden from God; everything in all creation is exposed and lies open before his eyes. And it is to him that we must all give an account of ourselves.
Just follow Him no matter what the cost. Be on the lookout because that enemy of your soul, Satan, will try to discourage your new found faith in Jesus by putting pressure on the Seed of Life planted in your heart. He will tempt you by encouraging you to indulge in the pleasures of this life, and by bringing anxiety, worries and persecution upon you.
Just hold fast to Jesus and the Bible, and He will see you through them all.

Luke 9:23. And he said to them all, "Anyone who wants to come with me must forget self, take up their cross every day, and follow me.
